Reeuwijkse Plassen is an area with its very own character. There are no fewer than 13 lakes in this region between Bodegraven and Gouda, east of the village of Reeuwijk. All the lakes are separated by narrow country roads. This is the perfect place for a wide range of recreational activities, such as hiking, cycling and water activities (including boating, swimming, diving and windsurfing). The lakes and surrounding polders are also a true paradise for meadow and water birds and their eager spotters.
A recreational lake with lovely lawns for sunbathing and playing. The swimming area is screened off and suitable for small children. The ideal place for day recreation! Toilets, showers and first aid facilities are available on the beach. Plenty of free parking is also available, as well as a large bicycle shed. (Tip: set your navigation on Reeuwijksehoutwal 4, 2811 NW Reeuwijk). Fancy an ice cream or some fries? The Paviljoen Reeuwijkse Hout Restaurant is right on the beach and when the weather is nice (between 1 April and 1 October), you can also enter the restaurant via the side entrance for a meal, drinks and ice cream. The adjacent Landal park, De Reewijkse Plassen, also has several restaurants and you can visit the Sup & Watershop to buy water toys and the like.
The Elfhoeven bathing area is located in the lake of the same name in the north-eastern area of the so-called “Elfhoevenstrook”. The lawns are spacious and there are toilets on the grounds. Try making the biggest splash from one of the swimming jetties! The jetties are fitted with steps to make it easy to get out of the water. Free parking is available at Korssendijk and Notaris d’Aumerielaan. Take your dog as well, but do keep it on a lead and keep an eye on the signs. The ice cream cart regularly visits the park and you can enjoy good food and drinks within walking distance at Restaurant ’t Vaantje.

You need a sailing permit to take a boat or sloop cruise on the Reeuwijkse Plassen. Simply request a permit from the rental company when renting your boat or sloop. They will also be able to advise you on the relevant boating rules. Permits are available from Stichting 12 Reeuwijkse Plassen.
No dogs are allowed on the beach at Reeuwijkse Hout during the swimming season between 1 April and 1 October. Reeuwijkse Hout has a separate little dog beach where the dogs can play and swim. There are areas where dogs can run free, but always under the gaze and in sight of the owner. Dogs must be on a lead in all the other areas.
