Cheese Valley is a small but charming region consisting of four municipalities: Bodegraven-Reeuwijk, Gouda, Krimpenerwaard and Woerden. Each has its own cheese history and traditions.
Yellow gold. That’s what we call our Gouda cheese in this region.
Gouda cheese is not only very tasty; it also has a rich history. For centuries, these cheeses were traded in the city they were named after: Gouda. But the actual production process takes place on the surrounding polders: Cheese Valley. An oasis of calm and space, right among the four largest cities of the Netherlands.
And still, today, this very Dutch landscape of grazing cows, ditches and pollard willows is where cheese is made with milk from our own cows. From young to fully matured cheese, and herb to truffle cheese. The taste varies from farm to farm, and even from season to season. You can taste it all in Cheese Valley!
